Peppermint treats are the perfect holiday treat, and a peppermint milkshake is no exception! This recipe is so simple, you only need 5 ingredients and it blends up in no time.

Recipe Ingredients 

You only need a few simple ingredients to make this homemade shake.

  • Vanilla ice cream – Use a good quality vanilla ice cream
  • Milk – whole milk makes the richest tasting, creamiest shakes, but any kind will work.
  • Crushed candy canes – You can actually find these in the baking aisle during the holiday season, but you can just smash some candy canes or peppermint candies, too.
  • Peppermint extract – use a good quality extract, not an imitation flavoring. 
  • Whipped cream
  • Optional: red food coloring. If you want your milkshake to have a more pronounced pink color.

How to make this milkshake

This milkshake is so simple to make!

  1. Place the ice cream, milk, crushed candy canes and peppermint extract into the jar of a blender.
  2. Process until smooth!
  3. Pour into glasses and top with whipped cream. Sprinkle on some extra crushed candy canes if you want!

Recipe Tips

  • This milkshake has the perfect consistency to be sipped through a straw. If you want a thicker shake, add more ice cream until you reach the desired consistency. 
  • Allow the ice cream to soften a little before you scoop it.

How long does this last?

You should serve this immediately. If something happens and you need to save it, you can place it in the refrigerator for about an hour before it really melts. You can also place it in the freezer for 10-15 minutes to thicken it up before serving, too.

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup crushed candy canes
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1 cup whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Place the ice cream, milk, crushed candy canes and peppermint extract into the jar of a blender.
  2. Process until smooth!
  3. Pour into glasses and top with whipped cream. Sprinkle on some extra crushed candy canes if you want!

Notes

You can place in the freezer for 10-15 minutes to thicken them up more if you need, or store in the fridge for up to 1 hour.
